CANDLE CARE TIPS!

Candles have been a staple in homes for centuries, providing light and creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. However, if you want to get the most out of your candles, proper candle care is essential, I can't stress that enough! In this blog post, we'll go over some essential tips to help you care for your candles and ensure that they burn safely and beautifully.

Trim the Wick

Trimming the wick is an essential part of candle care. Before you light your candle, make sure the wick is trimmed to about 1/4 inch. A long wick can cause the candle to burn too hot, leading to uneven burning and a shorter lifespan. Additionally, a long wick can create excess smoke and soot, which can stain your walls and ceilings.

Keep the Wax Pool Even

When you light your candle for the first time, make sure that the wax pool reaches the edges of the container. This will help prevent tunneling, which occurs when the candle burns down the center, leaving wax on the sides. Tunneling not only looks unattractive, but it also wastes wax and shortens the lifespan of the candle.

Burn Candles Safely

Always burn candles on a heat-resistant surface and keep them away from flammable materials. Never leave a burning candle unattended and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Avoid placing candles in drafty areas or near open windows, as this can cause uneven burning and excessive smoke.

Use Candle Accessories

To further protect your candles and ensure their longevity, consider using candle accessories such as a snuffer or wick trimmer. A snuffer can help extinguish the flame without blowing wax everywhere, while a wick trimmer can ensure a clean and even burn.

Store Candles Properly

When storing candles, keep them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. High temperatures can cause the wax to melt and distort the shape of the candle. Additionally, prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause fading and discoloration.

By following these simple tips, you can enjoy the warm glow and inviting atmosphere of candles.
